Nkoranza, Nov 18, GNA - Mr. Joseph Amponsah, Chairman of Hope Association of Nkoranza, an association made up of 25 persons living with HIV/AIDS, has urged pastors to desist from camping HIV/AIDS victims at their prayer grounds to fast for days as the practice was killing a number of them.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Amponsah expressed concern about how HIV/AIDS victims go to pastors for treatment with the assurance that by praying they would be cured.

''HIV/AIDS victims have already lost all the blood cells that would fight against diseases and therefore need to feed on well-balanced diets to promote their health,'' he added.

Mr Amponsah said any HIV/AIDS patient who fasts is only risking his or her life and would die prematurely.

Mr Amponsah urged HIV/AIDS to adhere to medical advice and heed to guidelines to enable them to live longer.

Mr Amponsah expressed appreciation for the efforts of members of the Association for publicly declaring their status and helping in the fight against its spread.

He appealed to other victims to register with the Association to assist in the national campaign.
