The government has voted 1.27 million dollars for the reconstruction of the Geodetic Engineering Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), which was destroyed by fire some years ago.

The Engineering Department will also be equipped with survey and mapping equipment, computers and furniture to facilitate surveying in the country.

This was contained a speech read on behalf of Professor Dominic Fobih, Minister for Lands and Forestry last Friday at a symposium organized by student members of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to mark Student Surveyors Day.

It was under the theme: “the Fate of the Student Surveyor In The Nexus of The Surveying Profession in Ghana”.

The Minister said the government had also allotted $1.18 million for the establishment of Estate Management and Surveying Departments at the Kumasi Polytechnic.
