24.09.2012 LISTEN

Kwansakrom, (C/R), Sept 23, GNA-Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East, has appealed to his supporters to remain calm in the face of political intimidation and threats from some political leaders in the constituency.

He said “no amount of intimidation and slanderous acts could stop him from ensuring that the people in Agona East get their fair share of development from him as MP”.

Mr Agyabeng made these known to the reporters in reaction to last Friday's incident where Mr Martin Luther Obeng, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Agona East, allegedly stop him from inaugurating a three- classroom block at Agona Kwanyako.

The MP said election violence would not help the country to consolidate its democratic processes but rather retard it progress.

Mr Agyabeng advised supporters to base their campaign on issues instead of insults and other acts that could slim the chances of the party in the December 7 polls.

He said Ghanaians needed a government that improve their living standard through good policies and programmes, adding that the New Patriotic Party would form such a government and urged the people vote the party into power.

The MP urged Ghanaians to brace themselves to vote massively for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the December 7, elections to help him implement his free senior High School (SHS) education policy.

He said many Ghanaians parents would find it tough to send their wards to SHS this academic year though they had passed Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) because the economic hardship facing them.

Mr Agyabeng therefore appealed to Ghanaians to assess the two major political parties New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) and see which of them can manage the economy better.

He said NPP has an all-round team that can deliver when given the nod in the upcoming elections.
