Kengen (W/R), Aug 07, GNA – Afadze Construction Works Limited the contractor for the Twinen to Ellonyi road near Beyin in the Western Region is set to meet its two-year deadline for the road.

Work begun on the construction of 7.2 kilometres road in September last year and is about 50 per cent complete.

Mr Kobby Addison, Site Manager of the Company, told the Ghana News Agency at Kengen that the project is at sub-based level and bitumen surfacing would very soon commence after the completion of additional concrete works.

He said the heavy downpour in the area recently caused the work to be halted for a while and to arrest the loss of time the company had procured additional two new trucks to increase its fleet of vehicles and hoped to complete the project before scheduled.

Mr Addison said delays in government's payment of work and non-cooperation of communities in the area are some of the challenges facing the company in the execution of its job.

He appealed to the government for timely payments and the communities to feel free to contact them for clarification when the need arose.

Government last year awarded contracts for bitumen surfacing of a 24-kilometre stretch coastal road from Tikobo Number One in Jomoro District to Atuabo in the Ellembele District to four contractors under the Cocoa Roads of Ghana.

Other contractors are Kingspork Construction Limited, seven kilometres; Fames Company Limited, three kilometres and Buadec Company Limited, seven kilometres.
