Malaria cases go down in the Amansie West District

Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), April 26, GNA - Reported cases of malaria at the Out-Patients Departments in the Amansie West District is on the decline.

As of the end of the first quarter of the year, 10,746 cases had been reported as compared with the 2011 figure of 14,386 during the same period.

Mr Dominic Dobbin, the District Director of Health Services, made this known at a performance review meeting held at Manso-Nkwanta where they discussed the challenges to quality health care delivery and plan the way forward.

Mr Dobbin said the district also saw a significant reduction in skin and ulcer diseases with 1,095 skin and ulcer cases as against the previous year's 1,308 cases.

Diarrhea also dropped to 1,173 from the 2011 total of 1,616 cases in the first three months.

He said this success was achieved mainly through the hard work, dedication and professionalism of the health professionals and urged them to continue the good job.

He renewed the appeal to pregnant women to ensure that they attend antenatal clinic regularly to prevent any health complications during delivery.

Mr Dobbin used the meeting to appeal to join in efforts at helping to bring down maternal and child mortality.
