Ghana and ten other African countries are to benefit from a grant to subsidize artemsinin based combination drugs known as ACT's. This will enable both public and private providers in participating countries to purchase ACT's at significantly lower prices and pass this benefit to patients.
This was announced at a press briefing at the on-going 5th MIM Pan African Malaria Conference in Nairobi, Kenya.
This will be a great leap for the poor to purchase the drug at a reduced price and prevent its abuse.
