Agricultural officer appeals to farmers to use fertilizer coupons

Nkoranza (B/A) May 19 (Credit Adu Simon) GNA – Mr. Mac Lawrence Ahiadu, Nkoranza District Director of Agricultural Services, has advised farmers to use coupons issued to them for the purchase of fertilizers to do so.

He warned them against collecting the coupons and keeping them for future use, saying the practice would disturb the system of fertilizer coupon distribution.

Mr. Ahiadu told the Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza that investigations had revealed that some farmers kept coupons with the hope of purchasing fertilizers at their convenient time.

“Such practice by the farmers is creating problems with regard to the returns and records we have to keep on the coupons supplied,” he said.

Mr. Ahiadu said it was important for the extension officers to visit farmers and assist them regularly in addressing their problems.
