Unemployed youth urged to learn a vocation

Reverend Father Benjamin Benneh, Administrator of Saint Theresa's Hospital at Nkoranza in Brong Ahafo has deplored the attitude of unemployed youth who idle under trees instead of learning vocations to enhance their living standards.

He advised them to eschew pleasures of the world at their age and grow with the fear of God to train and engage in lucrative jobs to achieve their ambitions in life.

Rev. Fr. Benneh was delivering Pope Benedict's address at the launching of the 24th World Youth Day celebration of Techiman Catholic Diocesan Youth Council at Nkoranza.

He advised the youth to be cautious in life and allow the teachings of the Holy Bible and life of Jesus Christ to guide them to become responsible citizens.

On the theme for the celebration, “We have set our hope on the Living God” Rev. Fr. Benneh urged the youth to maintain their faith in God to develop a positive vision to endeavour to achieve their goals in life.

He advised them to take education serious to acquire gainful employment to enable them take good care of their aged parents.

Rev. Fr. Benneh called on the employed youth to eschew laziness, absenteeism, stealing and work hard to contribute to national development.

Mr Joseph Ankomah, Nkoranza District Information Officer cautioned the youth against pre-marital sexual practices to free themselves from contracting HIV/AIDS.

“As the nation's hope for the future you should lead exemplary lives so you can grow to become responsible leaders,” he said.
