Ghana strolled to the top of Group Four despite a pedestrian performance to nick a 1-0 win over Benin in the combined 2010 Nations Cup/World Cup qualifers at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Striker Prince Tagoe handed the Black Stars the maximum points when turned in a Muntari cross in the opening minute.

The Saudi-based forward was left unmarked in the box and he stabbed in with his foot in mid-air to beat goalkeeper Yoann Djidonou.

Benin took control of the game afterwards and tore the home team apart with their defence splitting moves and pretty patterns.

On few occasions Razak Omotoyosi and Stephane Sessegnon came close but inexperience upfront robbed them off an equalizer and a possible lead.

Muntari nearly doubled Ghana's lead after his thunderbolt hit the woodwork in the 85th minute.

Ghana's next match is against Mali in Bamako on 6 June.
