A nine member school
management committee has been formed at Gomoa–Adaa in the
Central Region, to help promote the aims and objectives of
Gomoa–Adaa vocational training centre.
The centre, popularly called “German Volunteers Training
School”, was established by some German volunteers who
worked in the area some 24 years ago.
It offers training in entrepreneurship skills, electrical
installation, carpentry and joinery, surveying draughtsmanship and
information technology.
Other areas which the institute deals with include English
language, building construction, social science, mathematics,
science, catering, dressmaking and hairdressing.
Speaking after the formation of the committee, Barimah Okrah
Tawiah II, Chief of Gomoa Sampa and chairman of the
committee appealed to intellectuals, businessmen and women,
traditional authorities as well as artisans with good knowledge in
craftsmanship in the Gomoa District to come together and
contribute in diverse ways to promote objectives of the centre.
According to Barimah Okrah Tawiah, that is the only way,
they could make their impact properly felt since the youth in the
area needed such training to enable them to become useful
citizens and positive contributors to national development.
Other members of the committee include, Mr .J.P. Ansah,
Madam Eunice Baiden, Mr. Eric Akobeng, District Labour
Officer for the area, Mr. K. Acquah, Assemblyman for Gomoa
Adaa electoral area, Mr. K. Incoom. , Representative of Ghana
Education Service (GES), Mr. Patrick Amoah and Nana Obaatan
of Gomoa Akyempem Traditional area.
