Ghana fail to pick U-17 spot

The Under-17 team, the Black Starlets would not be playing at next year's Africa Under-17 Championship after falling to the Gambia.

Ghana lost 2-0 to the Young Scorpions away on Saturday in the last qualifying round.

The Gambians thus pick one of the seven places available at the finals of the tournament to be hosted by Algeria.

Despite going down 3-1 in the first leg played in Kumasi, a fortnight ago, the Gambians go through on the away goal rule.

This is the third time Ghana has failed to qualify for the Africa Under-17 Championship after crashing out in 2001 and 2003.
