Plan Ghana, Graphic Enter Partnership - To Develop Communications Skills Of Children

Plan Ghana has presented a cheque for GH¢12,901 to the Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL) to help empower Ghanaian children with timely information and knowledge through the Junior Graphic.

The amount will cover the cost of 32,400 copies of the Junior Graphic to be distributed to 120 schools within the operational areas of Plan Ghana for one year.

The Country Director of Plan Ghana, Mr Samuel Paulos, who presented the cheque, explained that Plan Ghana was touched by the result of a research finding it conducted that indicated the positive impact the Junior Graphic had on children, especially those within its operational areas.

He said the aim of Plan Ghana was to educate children on their rights, and it saw the GCGL as the right partner in that project, using its brand of products like the Daily Graphic and the Junior Graphic.

He challenged Ghanaians not to isolate children during decision-making, especially when the decisions affected them, and rather offer them opportunities for their total development.

The Managing Director of the GCGL, Mr Ibrahim Awal, who received the cheque, said the collaboration between the two organisations was important, especially when they had been working over the years to better the conditions of children.

He said since its inception in 1950, the GCGL had been advocating children's rights, giving prominence to issues that concerned Ghanaian children.

Mr Awal explained that in 2000, the GCGL reintroduced the Junior Graphic to demonstrate the company's commitment to the welfare of children.

He said that also informed the company's policy to sell the paper at 50 per cent discount to make it affordable to the children.
