Rt-Rev. Frimpong-Manso calls for more attention on the environment

Kyebi, June 23, GNA - Right Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has called for more attention on the environment to check human activities that have long term effects on the people.
He therefore, asked Ministers of the church not to dwell on the Gospel alone but to preach on sanitation and effective animal husbandry, water and air pollution and other activities that affected the environment.
Rt-Rev. Frimpong-Manso made the call when delivering the sermon at an ordination service for 20 Ministerial probationers from four Presbyteries of the church at Kyebi Presbyterian Church.
The Ministers had completed Diploma and Degree training courses from the Trinity Theological Seminary College and had undergone two-year probation in the Akuapem, Akyem-Abuakwa, Kwahu and West-Akyem Presbyteries.
He pointed out that it was the duty of all and sundry, irrespective of status to ensure that a high standard of environmental cleanliness was achieved and maintained.
Rt-Rev. Dr Frimpong-Manso said as a church and people “our sense of stewardship also indicates that we take good care of our natural resources and maintain them to protect the environment for our own benefits as we do with other gifts from God.”
He noted that with the rate at which filth had engulfed the nation, it required programmes that would recycle waste materials into profitable and useable materials and urged all stakeholders to perform well while other measures were implemented.
Rt-Rev. Frimpong-Manso urged the newly ordained ministers to go and preach issues that affected society without fear or favour because the calling of God required them to point out wrong things.
He told them that by their ordination they had legally become full Ministers of the church and were expected to discharge their duties in a manner that would strengthen it and bring honour to the call of God.
“Today our nation, Africa and the world are crying for humble servants at all levels of society and we as Ministers of the Gospel and Christians in general must set the highest example of leadership to learn from,” he added.
