The Managing Director of Oparim Quansah Company Limited in the Central Region, Mr James Quansah, has paid ¢21 million being the medical bills of eight patients at the Our Lady of Grace Hospital at Breman Asikuma.

The patients had been discharged but could not settle their medical bills between a week and nine weeks and the amount involved ranged between ¢850,000 and ¢4.2 million.

Mr Quansah said he was informed of the patients' plight during a visit to the hospital last week and decided to assist them on humanitarian grounds.

He expressed concern about families that failed to assist their relatives when in need but managed to secure money to perform expensive funerals after their death.

Mr Quansah observed that the patients had not registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and appealed to those who had not registered to register to access quality and affordable health care delivery.

Miss Agnes Doufu, a Senior Nursing Officer at the hospital expressed appreciation to Mr Quansah for the gesture.

Mr Kojo Arhin on behalf of the patients expressed appreciation to Mr Quansah for the gesture that had relieved them.
