The Founder and Leader of Life of Christ Power Ministry International at Ejisu-Manhyia in the Ashanti Region, Rev. Emmanuel Kwadwo Kusi has urged Parliament to begin an impeachment process against the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo if he fails to assent to the Anti-Gay bill.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Rev. Emmanuel Kusi expressed his displeasure at the President’s posture towards the controversial bill.

According to him, the President’s reluctance to sign the bill is a strategic manoeuvre to evade responsibility.

His comment comes after the Supreme Court dismissed an application filed by South Dayi MP, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, challenging the approval of new ministerial and deputy ministerial nominees.

In a unanimous decision, a five-member panel of the court held that the application was frivolous and an abuse of the court process.

The applicant, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, had sought to halt the vetting process in Parliament pending the determination of his suit challenging the constitutionality of the President’s decision to reassign Ministers without Parliament’s involvement.

However, the Supreme Court ruled that the MP’s case had no direct relevance to the nominees currently before Parliament, as it primarily concerns reassigned Ministers.

The Minority in Parliament already vowed to initiate impeachment processes against President Akufo-Addo for his refusal to sign the anti-gay bill.

Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson said the recent directive by the Secretary to the President asking the clerk of Parliament to desist from transmitting the anti-LGBTQ bill to the Jubilee House is uncalled for and unacceptable.
