Ghanaian businessman Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan, has encouraged Ghanaian youth not to let pressure deter them from pursuing their dreams.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, March 21, McKorley who founded McDan Group - one of Ghana's largest private companies, advised young people against feeling pressured into having a clear career path or progression plan early on.
"Everywhere I look, there's a lot of pressure on young people to have a clear progression or career plan. My advice is: don't let this pressure get to you," McKorley wrote.
He added: "With 20 or 30 years of work ahead of you, there is no pressure to get into your ‘dream’ position or have a clear plan yet. If opportunities to pursue your interests or passions are not currently available, try another thing. Not all jobs are glamorous or fit in your plan, but you must be flexible and experimental."
The businessman stressed that youth should gain diverse experiences from different jobs and fields to help them discover their interests and build useful skills for future careers.
"All jobs, no matter how unexciting they seem, have lessons to teach you. And those lessons will help with navigating similar situations and bigger life choices in the future," McKorley noted.
He encouraged the youth to be brave and proactive in pursuing opportunities that interest them, despite potential failures or setbacks.
