President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reconstituted the board of directors of Tema Oil Refinery Company Limited (TOR).

According to a statement from the Office of the President dated March 18, Akufo-Addo has nominated an 11-member board to provide strategic leadership and oversight to the ailing oil refinery.

The new board is chaired by Leon Kendon Appenteng with Kofi Mocumbi Tagoe as the new Managing Director.

Other members include Dr. Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko, Mrs. Edith Sapara-Grant, Nana Akua Bakoma Prempeh, Mrs. Lorraine Crabbe Ababio, Joseph Mensah Browne, Alfred George Thompson, Paul Kwaku Kyei Ofori, Kwame Baffoe and Herbert Ato Morrison.

"In view of the reconstitution of the Board of Tema Oil Refinery Company Limited (the "Company"), the President has nominated the following persons," the statement signed by Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo said in part.

The revamping of TOR's leadership comes amid difficulties at the refinery which has struggled to operate competitively in recent years.

The new board is expected to provide strategic direction to return the company to profitability and stem its reliance on government subventions for survival.
