Questions: Hi Madam Gina, I am working as a customer service personnel and I have a temper issue with handling a lot of cases and sometimes I am overwhelmed, please how can you guide me on what to do the next time in such situation

Thanks for reaching out to me dear Anonymously.

Customer Service is the support service rendered to customers before and after they use or patronize your product or service.

This service support offered to your customer helps them have an easy and enjoyable experience that leaves indelible satisfaction in their minds.

The intrinsic word here is “an easy and enjoyable experience“. These experiences rendered to customers are hampered when one has a hot temperament or is easily get overwhelmed with tasks.

Customer service is a direct connection between your customers and your company.

As a frontline, implementing essential customer service can improve your relationships with customers and accelerate the growth of your business.

One's ability to create a remarkable customer experience builds customers' loyalty over time.

With my experience as a Customer Service Personnel, I can say with certainty that my temper was often triggered anytime I was overwhelmed with assigned duties with close deadlines.

With my shared experience above, I can confidently remark that your temper issue could stem from you being overwhelmed with lots of tasks.

There are many reasons why your work duties can make you feel overwhelmed. I will share guidelines for identifying the causes and how to manage them.

1. Accepting too many tasks from supervisors that have close deadlines.

2. Having several assignments to complete at ago.

3. Not getting clarification about the direction for a specific assignment.

4. Meeting tight deadlines.
5. Not being organized ( Unable to set priorities about assigned tasks) etc.

I am sure you are nodding in agreement with the causes mentioned above.

Now let us jump on a few tips that enabled me to overcome the overwhelming feelings I encountered intermittently thus ironing my hot temperament.

1. Create a to-do list with the timeline. This enables you to remember what tasks you aim to finish and allows you to sort them out in order of importance.

2. Maintain a balanced healthy work-life: Your life should not evolve around work only. You can feel less overwhelmed if you focus on events outside work and take time to relax. Kindly do well to engage in a favorite hobby and spend quality time with friends and family.

3. Be Honest about your workload: If you feel overwhelmed with the number of tasks assigned to you, come clear and make it known to your supervisors or coworkers. Learn to say some things like- I’m sorry, I have several other tasks due soon that I want to focus closely on. Make your supervisor understand how you feel and you will be fine.

5. Finally, Learn to ask for guidance when needed: Not knowing how to go about assigned tasks often can cause you to feel overwhelmed, which is why you should be sure to ask your supervisor for help with fulfilling all tasks. Knowledge is power they say, do well to gather as much information as you can to aid with the smooth execution of all assigned tasks.

I would not want to bore you with so much to read. Kindly do well to implement the above strategies and let me know how it goes.

Your wellwisher,
Gina Eyram
