Bono Regional Minister calls for calm, unity ahead of NPP Parliamentary primaries
25 JAN 2024 LISTEN

Ahead of the NPP parliamentary primaries across the country, the Bono Regional Minister, Justina Owusu Banahene, is calling for calm and unity of purpose before, during and after the elections to ensure that the party faces the 2024 general election with a formidable force.

Like most elections, some contestants will emerge victorious while others will miss their target, but whichever be the case, Madam Owusu Banahene is appealing to the rank and file of the party to close their ranks right after the election and hit the road running toward the bigger contest later this year.

“We need to ensure internal cohesion, party unity and bring everyone on board as a family and avoid any act that has the tendency of weakening our front. This is internal elections, and it should not degenerate into anything untoward. Let’s put the party’s interest above ours”, she said at a media interaction after a meeting with Municipal and District Chief Executives in the region.

The minister said the party has peacefully completed its parliamentary elections in orphan constituencies and so it behoves the party leadership, contestants, delegates and the entire elephant fraternity to ensure that this weekend’s primaries in constituencies with sitting NPP MPs go on smoothly as well.

“It is my fervent hope that the NPP wins all 12 constituencies during the 2024 general elections. This is possible and will require that we all join hands to secure a massive electoral victory for the NPP.”

She urged regional, constituency, and polling station executives to promote the code of conduct set out by the party to regulate the elections and ensure party discipline, which she stressed is essential for victory in 2024.

She asked the aspirants to engage in issues-based campaigns and desist from personal attacks and character assassination.

The Regional Minister further advised any aggrieved aspirant or delegate or party faithful to resort to the internal mechanisms of the party instead of rushing to the law courts.
