Bawumia-Napo Partnership Is Generally Accepted By The Rank And File Of The New Patriotic Party

The two major political parties in Ghana have both elected their presidential candidates who will represent their respective parties in the upcoming general elections in December 7 this year. Who partners either of them is a question in the minds of Ghanaians. Until they settle on their running mates, Ghanaians will continue to speculate as names of possible running mates popup on daily basis.

The focus of discussion on the running mate selection is largely on who partners the NPP flag bearer, H. E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Many names have come up as potential running mate but the generally accepted individual is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South in the Ashanti Region and a Minister Responsible for Energy, Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

The majority of party members and sympathizers believe that a partnership of Bawumia-Napo is the key to breaking the eight year political cycle in Ghana. The critical Ashanti votes, the party is seriously in need of will be brought on board with selection of Napo as the running mate to the NPP flag bearer.

The love for Napo cuts across the entire country as most members and sympathizers of the NPP are on daily basis calling for his selection as the running mate. The grassroots trust what he is capable of doing so far as election 2024 is concerned. The charisma alone will automatically rejuvenate the party grassroots and ginger them to go out there and fight for the party with more vim and vigor.

Generally, the bigwigs of the party are comfortable with Bawumia-Napo ticket and would love Napo to be selected as the running mate to Dr. Bawumia. So, if majority of those who matter in the party and government are rooting for Napo for this position, it means, it is a done deal. I believe the flag bearer is only buying time and would come out with his choice and that choice would not be any other person but Napo.

Chiefs and religious leaders are also eagerly and sincerely praying for the great partnership of Bawumia-Napo ticket for the next elections. This is evidenced by comments made by some Zongo chiefs in Ashanti Region, led by their president about their prayers and wishes to see Bawumia-Napo ticket come to pass. They have seen a spiritual connection with the ticket that comes with nothing but victory and success.

The support base of Napo keeps on increasing as the days go by. My personal experience tells it all. When I started with my advocacy to get Napo selected as a running mate to the affable and competent flag bearer, Dr. Bawumia, some were those who had reservations and contacted me personally to slow down. But, they are now happily supporting Napo and championing for his selection. It is obviously evident that Bawumia-Napo partnership is generally accepted by the rank and file of the party including chiefs, religious and traditional leaders and Ghanaians in general.

In conclusion, the ball is in the court of the next president of Ghana, H. E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia . Majority of the party members, sympathizers and Ghanaians alike are patiently waiting for him to unveiling Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate.
