Nana Obiri Boahen, a former Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged the party's leadership to focus on making NPP more appealing to Ghanaians as they prepare for the upcoming presidential election next year.

Boahen's comments come as the NPP is gearing up for the "Breaking the 8" campaign, aiming to retain power for another term.

He expressed confidence in the capabilities of their newly elected flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

However, he cautioned the party leadership against complacency.

"I am extremely happy my candidate has won, but I still affect the fact that we have a lot of work to do as a party," Mr Boahen emphasized during an interview with NEAT FM's 'Ghana Montie' morning show.

Mr Boahen emphasized the need for the party to tackle the issues and communicate effectively with the electorate.

"We can hold discussions with the people, explain one or two things, and the people will understand, but everything is COVID, Ukraine . . . COVID, Ukraine...," Boahen stressed.

Boahen also stressed the importance of a significant restructuring within the party to ensure victory in the forthcoming presidential election.
