NPP Allegation of vote buying from NDC's Kwasi Amankwaa is pathetic; hes crying because he will lose — Ernest Anim
TUE, 23 MAY 2023 LISTEN

Ernest Yaw Anim, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) parliamentary candidate in the Kumawu by-election has told Kwasi Amankwaa, the NDC candidate that his allegation of vote-buying is baseless.

Mr. Amankwaa, the candidate for the NDC raised concern that some elderly and mentally ill people were being transported to polling stations to cast their ballots.

“It is very pathetic that the NPP have to resort to buying votes and then sharing money and pretending for these people to come and tell the EC that they are disabled,” he told Media General’s Ibrahim Abubakar in an interview while visiting some voting centers Tuesday, May 23.

He added, “So they escort them to come and vote for the NPP.”

Replying to the allegation, NPP candidate Ernest Yaw Anim said the NDC candidate is crying because he knows he will lose.

“Those are the tantrums of a losing candidate, he can equally do same, he can go and get old people into taxis and buses and bring them to the polling station, and nobody stops him from doing that.

“We are trying to get everybody to be part of the process, so as part of it we have organized people to bring all people to the polling centers so they can be part of this process.

“I don’t think it is something he should complain about, he should try to get involved in the process of getting everyone on board because this is an election that is going to determine the future of Kumawu and the future of Ghana and the 2024 elections. If he feels that we are putting in certain strategies and it is working to our advantage, he can also adopt the same," Ernest Yaw Anim argued.
