Pwamang laments Disunity Among Nkrumaists

The General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), Mr Gabriel Pwamang, has called on all Nkrumaist political parties and Ghanaians who subscribe to the ideals of Dr Kwame Nkrumah to unite and present one Nkrumaist political party as their gift to Ghanaians.

He said such a formidable and united party would be able to win political power in 2008 and continue with the marvellous work of Dr Nkrumah.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Mr Pwamang expressed worry that on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the independence of the country, there was no viable Nkrumaist political party to honour the memory of the founder of the Convention People's Party (CPP).

“All Nkrumaists must rise up to the occasion of the 50th anniversary celebration of the nation's independence by honouring Dr Nkrumah, unifying the CPP and presenting it to Ghanaians as their gift for the anniversary”, he said.

He said most black people in the Diaspora and other African countries who cherished the steadfastness of Dr Nkrumah in championing the liberation of Africa , African personality and black empowerment have been honouring this great African.

Mr Pwamang urged Ghanaians, especially all Nkrumaists, to also honour him, especially for leading the fight in gaining independence from colonial rule, expanding the educational facilities, building the Akosombo Dam, Tema Motorway as well as ensuring other physical development.

He said Dr Nkrumah was able to do all these things because he mobilised the ordinary Ghanaian into an effective force which he was able to use to build the nation, which was the envy of the world.

“So what we can do is to bring back his party as an honour to him. We should stop talking about who is a true Nkrumaist, who is wrong, and unite by resolving our differences in a brotherly manner”, he said.
