Are The Chiana SHS Girls To Blame?

Are The Chiana SHS Girls To Blame?
13.01.2023 LISTEN

What is Ghana Education Service saying? That the kids insulted our president and so they have lost their right to access public education?

Like did they think deeply before arriving at such a decision? Is Nana Addo in support of this decision or he hasn't heard of it? This is time to score some points, Nana Addo has to intervene, it's been a while since we called him show boy.

In this country, the least opportunity people get, they throw stones. Give people the chance to invigilate and they will act like they have been assigned to guard terrorists, give them terrorists and they will go to sleep. A judge will give the one who stole the plantain 10 years imprisonment and give the bank robber the chance to pay the money he stole over time and go home.

Yes, what the girls did is shameful, a dent on their parents and one that would be with them for a long time. I accept that they should be corrected, there are several ways to do this. What has been prescribed is to destroy them and to be honest, the verdict was devoid of wisdom.

Kids are products of society; they learn from us adults. Do we by chance think these kids don't watch Kevin Taylor, Twene Jonas, Afia Schwarzenegger or Captain Smart? We even have one vying to become president of Ghana, we have them in Parliament, we have them as Political Party executives. Do we think they don't pick pointers from these people?

The kids need fixing, not a nail in their coffin, they need fixing for the bad seed we have planted in them.

When kids go astray, check the adults.
At a time when we are priding ourselves with giving prisoners, including hardcore criminals the opportunity to pursue education, what is the motivation behind dismissing the children over a wrong that only exposes the poor upbringing and exposure they are not responsible for? This affords us the opportunity to educate Ghanaians on the right use of the camera and phone. It has become the norm now for people to pick up the phone and start hurling insults at others. If they are not insulting, they are twerking for social media reactions.

Our wrong use of social media platforms and mobile phone devices is simply preparing for us a generation without morals./.

To think that expelling them from the very system that should fix them is an unforgivable blot in wisdom. They need to be in school to learn civility, they need to learn the right ways to express grievances. When the popular examples they see are insulting adults get promoted, then the kids are not to blame.
