Former President John Dramani Mahama has indicated that the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) is making it difficult for some section of the populace to take part in elections.
According to him, instead of making things easy, the EC was deliberately making things difficult to disenfranchise voters.
In a Facebook post on July 17, he noted that the EC's insistence on the use of the Ghana Card as the only source of identification for voter registration is a worry.
On July 12, the Minority in Parliament took to various media to vent their spleen on the ECs proposition to have new voters register with the use of Ghana Card as a registration document.
However, the EC has indicated that it is not compiling a new voters register ahead of the 2024 elections.
It noted that it is seeking to use the Ghana Card as the only document for those who just attained the voting age to register as voter.
But the worry of the former President is that many have gone through process of acquiring the card but are yet to receive it.
