The Vice President of Sierra Leone, H.E Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, toured the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) with a delegation to learn lessons on how to boost their country's energy sector.

Since Sierra Leone People's Party took over government in 2018, President Julius Maada Bio, his Vice Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, and the entire government have been working to develop the energy sector.

Through their hard work, energy access has been increased from 16% to 33% in the last three years in Sierra Leone.

Not leaving any stone unturned to increase more access to power and electricity, Sierra Leone has decided to understudy Ghana's energy sector.

It is in line with this that Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh led a delegation including the Sierra Leone Minister of Energy to pay a visit to the head office of GRIDCo in Tema today.

H.E Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh said the visit shows the interest his government has in the work the excellent board of GRIDCo is known for doing.

On behalf of his delegation, the Vice President said, “We are in Ghana to share experiences with our Ghanaian colleagues particularly in the energy sector. We are here to learn from the good excellent work you have been doing and also take cognizance of the challenges and how you manage to overcome some of those challenges.”

H.E Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh further emphasised that the Sierra Leone government sees the energy sector as the backbone of the country and wants to get on that track by following in the footsteps of Ghana.

Taking his turn to address the Sierra Leone Vice President and his delegation, GRIDCo CEO Mr. Ebenezer Essienyi gave the assurance that his outfit is willing to help in any way it can.

He said whenever called upon, GRIDCo will share knowledge with their counterparts in Sierra Leone to ensure they are guided in their ambition to grow their energy sector.

“We are ready to guide you in any aspect of our work. Then also based on our knowledge of the industry and the need for you to acquire the knowledge in terms of planning, maintenance, we are ready, call on us anytime and we will gladly assist your team,” Mr. Ebenezer Essienyi said.
