Agona West NPP Cautions NDC Over Tribal Politics, Personal Insult Against Incumbent MP Cynthia Morrison

The Ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Agona West constituency in the Central Region has cautioned the opposition NDC against tribal politics and personal insult against their Member of Parliament, Hon. Mrs Cynthia Morrison.

According to the NPP, the NDC was taking a dangerous and hazardous path in the constituency and its consequences was going to be harmful to the entire constituents of Agona West.

At a press conference held at Agona Kwaman last Wednesday, the Acting Agona West Constituency Secretary of the NPP, Nana Kwame Agyei noted that the actions of the NDC were becoming unbecoming in the constituency

"The chronology of events leading to the court case by the NDC with some miscreants within the constituency. It can be recalled that the 2016 campaign mantra by the NDC against Hon. Cynthia Morrison was an alien and a total stranger in the Agona land and therefore not a true Royal and above all a Nigerian.

"When they realized that the good people of Agona West were more civilized and well informed after the 2016 as they voted massively for Hon. Cynthia Morrison with over Eleven Thousand (11,000) Votes difference, they still went further and clothed their shameful attempt with yet another uncivilized anthems by inciting the Agona indigenes against other settlers on Agonaman Lands. They shamefully charged "we have to fight for our heritage back, Let us chase the aliens out from our land" among others.

"Again upon seeing the looming defeat in the December 7 General Elections in spite of all their tribal schemes and attempts, they hatched yet another cheap tactics to prevent Hon. Cynthia Morrison from Registering as a voter. Nevertheless, Hon. Cynthia Morrison registered at Ntiamoah Hotel Registration Center in Wawaase Electoral Area and used her residence address at Wawaase as proof of resident as the law requires."

He continued, "The NDC through their agent tried to challenge her even after she had finished Registration. When that attempt also failed, they coached one uninformed and ignorantly naive Eric Yankey, NDC branch chairman at Wawaase to file a suit against Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morrison's name in the Voter's Register during the exhibition exercise.

"That matter was referred to the Swedru District Court on 28th September, 2020. The case of the petitioner was that; the house the honorable MP used as her residential address in Wawaase does not belong to her, that she is not a resident in the Wawaase Electoral Area hence the court should order the Electoral Commission to remove or delete her name from the Voter's Register.

"The subsequential effect was that the NDC want the court to stop Hon. Cynthia Morrison from voting and also contesting in the upcoming December 7 General Elections."

Flanked by Hon. Cynthia Morrison, constituency executives and campaign team Members, Nana Kwame Agyei further stated that the NDC and their Candidate wanted the court to pave way for him ( the Parliamentary Candidate) to win the election in the courtroom before ballot papers were issued adding that the NDC wanted cheap contest. " They are simply afraid of Hon. Cynthia Morrison."

The statement added that on 29th September, 2020 the Swedru District Court presided over by His Worship Justice Isaac Apietu dismissed the case after listening to the parties and affirmed that Hon. Cynthia Morrison is the bone fide owner and a resident of the said house at Swedru Wawaase and ruled that her Registration was valid in fact and in law

"We like to encourage the good people of Agona West to remain calm and resolute in our collective quest for peace and development in the constituency. We like to appeal to the people to stay away from these uncivilized and dangerous tribal politics by the NDC and any politician.

"We want to send this sten caution to the NDC and their Parliamentary Candidate for Agona West and any other person or politician that we in NPP have taken political notice of their diabolic schemes and we will match them squarely. They should just warm themselves for yet another grave defeat in December."
