Sobolo (bissap), drink since its discovery has become very popular in Ghana. Sobolo is made from the Roselle leaves, a species of Hibiscus native.

Not only is the drink popular in Ghana. People from Nigeria, Burkina and Senegal enjoy it too.

It has a dark red colour and its unique and refreshing taste when served chilled makes it an all time favourite drink.

It was initially home made for families to enjoy. However, it's now being sold commercially, in shops, supermarkets and in traffic. It is even served at events such as weddings, funerals and naming ceremonies.

A farmer and an entrepreneur having realised its business potential has processed the leaves for the preparation of sobolo into tea bags with nutritional value.

According to ontvworld.com, Georgina Koomson grows her own herbs for the various teas she produces including the sobolo tea bag.

The 2014 Greater Accra regional best farmer, Georgina Koomson sees potentials in exporting the tea product.

The tea bag weighs two grams and contains ten cups of rosella leaves.

The tea is prepared by soaking the tea bag in hot water.

The tea bags goes through production stages of drying, artisan blending of tea with mixture of herbs and whole organic fruits which finally goes through packaging, according to ontvworld.com

Through her organization Kroms, she additionally produces Lemon, Lemongrass and dawadawa into various teas.

The vitamin C in sobolo is good for people with kidney problems. It also helps to reduce cholesterol in the body.
