Day 6
Memory Verse: James 1:19-20 NIV
"My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires."

Learning to control anger is one of the areas of our lives, we must all give proper consideration to. It's not a choice because our daily relationship with others demands this virtue. In this manner, a child of God must of a matter of urgency, give the needed attention it merits with regards to anger.

Many relationships are broken today, marriages have crumpled, business partnerships terminated, family bonds are ruined and the list continues, all because of how anger was managed.

In the passage above, we were told that human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires of us. So making correction through anger is against God's desire. God is, however, more interested in the positive anger resolutions and self-control. He is definitely not in consent to anger as any means in dealing with an issue. Some of the time, we hear people say 'I told him or her my mind, he/she can go to hell for all I care'. You may be very honest in speaking your mind, but the results are the most important aspect of the whole process. The person in question may coincide with your position or stand on the issue but will have a problem with the way you used anger in escalating the situation.

So along these lines, know that anger is not the way of God and as a matter of fact, one of the acts of the sinful nature. Let us trust the Holy Spirit to help us lay it aside by being conscious of it. One of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is self-control. Regardless of the situation, let us have control over our very own emotions and actions. It is difficult, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, it is very much possible.

Start the process today and with time you will grow.

Remain blessed.
