Renowned Ghanaian hip-hop artist Medikal has advised against marrying solely out of love, warning that it could lead to making a big mistake.

In an interview with Starr FM's Bola Ray on Thursday, May 23, the 'La Hustle' hitmaker said love alone is insufficient basis for marriage.

“I want to advise people that I don't think love is enough before you get married. Love is not enough for two people who want to marry," Medikal stated.

He explained that marriage entails significantly more than the emotional connection between partners.

“Marriage is a different thing, it's a different ballgame," the rapper remarked.

Medikal further cautioned against rushing into matrimony with a loved one without proper preparation and counsel.

"If you love somebody, you don't be in a hurry to get married to the person. You people need counseling, you need families to talk to. Don't just jump into marriage because you love someone. You might end up making a big mistake," he warned.

The comments come from an artist whose high-profile marriage to fellow musician Fella Makafui in 2020 was closely followed by fans.

However, the duo are on the course of breaking up after having a daughter—a move that has brought social media into a frenzy in recent days.
