Veteran Ghanaian award-winning background vocalist/composer cum songstress, Anna Nana Ama Dadzie aka Nana Ama claims Ghanaian musicians are very ungrateful especially with the majority of artists that she has worked with.

In an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa, the Abro Ne Bayie singer disclosed that background vocals is a very good business in the music field and "you can join that train without the intent of being a solo artiste but the disrespect in Ghana alone forced half baked acts into the scene."

During her twenty-two years in the scene, she has come to realize that until you convince people that you can do your own thing as a solo artist you need to work hard — the main reason why she didn't release her own album earlier on.

Speaking on the main issue, Nana Ama stressed that she came to meet an industry where if you are a background vocalist and you tell a musician that both of you need to sign a contractual agreement "then the artiste becomes angry, according to the sources if you go through that process back then you can easily be sabotaged because then you have many background vocalists in the game."

She also revealed that the well known international song by Rocky Dawuni, "Wake Up The Town" which ended on the EA Sports FIFA 08 Soundtrack was composed by her and the artist but she didn't receive any royalties because they didn't sign a contract "but it could have been nice if he would acknowledge my contribution on the song by receiving a penny, because he knows better."

Concluding, Nana Ama added that out of the many musicians that she has worked with, the only artists that appreciated her efforts was Lord Kenya dedicating the 2002 Song Of The Year at the Ghana Music Awards to her in public and Okomfour Kwaadee acknowledging her on radio from the day that they worked his first hit at Hit Digital Production Studios in Kumasi, where Morris Babyface was working.
