BBA: Quinn Saves Himself

16.10.2009 LISTEN
By Daily Graphic

Monday night's Big Brother Revolution nomination show saw Quinn use his power as Head of House to save himself and Kristal, leaving Emma & Edward and Liz & Kaone in danger of eviction this week.

Having gathered the most nominations as a pair, Quinn was forced to go against his word to Liz (he had promised that he'd save her if need be, even at his own expense) and take himself and his partner out of the firing line.

Quinn was so surprised to hear his and Kristal's name that he abruptly let go of her hand during Big Brother's nomination announcement, immediately sinking into thought. He was called into the diary room right away to exercise his option to make a switch. Clearly torn, with Big Brother having to ask him twice to speak up, he reluctantly decided to replace himself and Kristal with Edward and Emma.

Kristal nominated Jeremy and Edward, Kaone picked Kevin and Kristal, Kevin nominated Liz and Edward and Jeremy decided on Mzamo and Liz.

Mzamo nominated South African duo Quinn and Liz, saying that she would like to see who Quinn uses his power as Head of House to save.

Quinn nominated Itai, telling Big Brother that he doesn't feel he owes Itai anything for saving him last week as Itai only saved him because of his 'pal' Kristal. He also nominated fellow South African Liz, telling South Africa not to worry – “it's pure strategy and I know what I'm doing”.

Itai returned the favour, nominating Quinn and Liz, as he felt he and Liz were always on a collision course. Liz nominated Geraldine and Nkenna, while Edward nominated Itai because “he took out my boys and it's boring here without them” and Liz, because he thinks she is a “spoiled brat”.

Nkenna nominated Kaone because she felt he would nominate Itai, putting her in the firing line and Quinn because she felt that he would use his power as Head of House to save himself.

Geraldine nominated Quinn and Liz, Elizabeth nominated Itai and Liz and Leonel nominated Kristal and Liz. Emma picked Kaone and also Itai because she doesn't trust him.

After all the nominations had been tallied, the numbers were as follows: Liz & Kaone (11), Quinn & Kristal (6), Itai & Nkenna (5), Jeremy & Geraldine and Edward & Emma (2) and Mzamo & Leonel and Elizabeth & Kevin (1).

Most surprised of all was Itai, who expected to find himself and his partner Nkenna up for eviction. Having asked Big Brother earlier in the day if he could voluntarily leave after another week, will this surprising result change his mind?

Now it's up to Africa to decide who stays in the house by voting to keep favourite housemates in the game via the website at www.mnetafrica.com/bigbrother or by texting the word VOTE followed by the name of the housemate to 1477 across all mobile phone networks in Ghana.

Meanwhile American music sensation Keri Hilson is set to make an exciting two-hour appearance in the house tomorrow. The gorgeous R&B/hip-hop star will surprise housemates as she enters the popular reality series, where she is due to meet the housemates and perform two songs.

Named Best New Artiste at the 2009 BET Awards, the hugely talented Hilson was also recently named the Best R&B/Soul Act at the 2009 MOBO Awards. Her debut album In a Perfect World won her international attention as her singles Energy, Return The Favour, Turnin' Me On plus Knock You Down which featured Ne-Yo and Kanye West.

This week has seen the dawn of a new alliance with unexpected power, along with the start of a new cultural task which seems to have the housemates inspired.

Early on in the game, the housemates with the loudest voices ruled the roost, meaning that some other housemates didn't really get a chance to influence decisions. Now, with some of the more dominant personalities evicted, the quieter housemates have moved to the fore.

Leonel, Geraldine and Nkenna very quickly created a plan to counter Quinn's scheme to get Itai/Nkenna evicted.
