All set for the NPP Congress

Vice President Aliu Mahama yesterday cautioned the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to allow the search for a new presidential candidate for election 2008 to undermine the democratic principles of the party.

He noted that the NPP is known to be a party that cherish democracy, hence the departure from the tradition will spell doom. Speaking to journalists ahead of today's national delegate congress to elect the flag bearer of the party for December 2008 general elections.

The Vice President cautioned the 16 aspirants to ensure fair play and desist from intimidations, which would want to take the centre stage of the congress.

H.E  Aliu Mahama who aspires to immerge as the presidential candidate of the party promised to involve more women in the future administration of the country.

'I see myself as the heir aspirant to President John Agyekum Kufuor. I have co-operated with the President with humility and humility is not a weakness'.

'Talking about the mood of the country, I am the one people want as President'.

Vice President Mahama said Professor Evans John Atta Mills was one time a vice president and now wants to be the President and he therefore saw nothing wrong in seeking the highest office of the state. He observed that God is however the Kingmaker.
