General Mosquito disagrees with critics

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, affectionately called General Mosquito has lashed out at critics of his party who are insinuating that the executives of the party fled the coalition centre at Busunya Secondary School as it became clear from the trend of the results that the party was going to lose the Nkoranza North bye-election.

According to him, he pities those making the ridiculous assertions because it only shows they have little knowledge of the electoral process.

General Mosquito explained that what is more important in any series of elections is the declaration of results at the various polling stations where winners are declared.

According to him, once the various results were declared at every polling station and since many NDC executives had access to all results of the 69 polling stations, there was no need for them to besiege the collation center. The NDC is a purposeful party, he affirmed.

The NDC scribe said that what happened at the Busunya collation center is no different from what had happened in previous bye-elections, where senior NDC executives with the exception of Baba Jamal were always not present.

He pointed out that it is utterly ridiculous for anybody to suggest that the NDC sensing humiliation fled the collation center when in fact, his deputy, Baba Jamal was still there as the party's representative.

According to Asiedu Nketia, either those who are mocking the NDC are ignorant of the processes and procedures of the electoral process or they are being plainly mischievous and petty.

He explained that the executive members of the party or any serious party for that matter does serious monitoring of events in Election Day and would have by close of polls gathered the necessary information or known the outcome of the election and that it would not be out of place if majority of the party executives are not present at the collation center.

In another development, Mr Asiedu Nketia hinted that the NDC will tomorrow issue a press statement on events before, during and after the Nkoranza North bye-election.
