SEP 28, 2019 LISTEN

The Black Stars B team will leave Ghana for Senegal on Sunday, September 29, 2019, to compete with fifteen other countries in this year’s edition of the WAFU Cup of Nation.

The 16-nation tournament is played every 2 years by countries from West Africa but with national teams made up of only players plying their trade in their respective local leagues.

The 2019 WAFU championship is being hosted by Senegal and is expected to be played from Saturday, September 28, 2019, to October 13, 2019.

Ghana’s first match will, however, be played on next week Monday and hence the team has opted to move to the tournament venue this weekend.

Coach for the side, Maxwell Konadu was in the dugout when the Black Stars B lifted the enviable trophy by beating Nigeria 4-1 when it was hosted on home soil.

He is now hoping his current squad will be as good as the last one as he targets successful defense of the title knowing well that the other heavyweights are yearning for triumph.

Ghana will start off her campaign in a fixture against Gambia at Stade Lat-Dior, based in Thiès.
