FIFA/GFA to organize football clinic for young girls in Ho

Ten Schools in the Ho Municipality have been selected to participate in this year's 'Live Your Goals' campaign which comes off at the Ho Sports Stadium on 18th March 2017.

The schools include: Kabore School Complex, Mawuli E.P School, RIIS Presby School, Methodist Basic School, Ho Poly Basic School. The rest are St. Cecilia R.C Basic School, Ho Kpodzi Basic School 'C', Ho Kpodzi Basic School 'D', A.M.E Zion School and Ho Dome E.P Basic School.

The 'Live Your Goals' is an initiative of the World Football governing body (FIFA) in Partnership with The Ghana Football Association (GFA), aimed at nurturing young girls under the age of 15 with interest in football.

Through interactions and encouragement these young girls from the Ten (10) selected schools above would receive mentorship from experienced coach educators.

Technical Director of Ghana Football Association, Mr. Oti Akenteng said the rationale for hosting the ‘Live Your Goals’ Campaign in the Volta region, was to revive the dwindling Women Football in the region.

“We want to tackle the areas where women football hasn’t developed very well. We know that the Volta region has a lot of talented young female footballers. There has been lots of effort to nurture them but it’s not enough”

"Moreover no team from the region is in the women’s league that is why we want to lay this foundation in the region”.

The Live Your Goals (LYG) campaign was started in 2011 during the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.

Ho would be the second city to host this year's edition after the first was organized at the Nicholson Stadium in Burma Camp, Accra.
