DEC 4, 2016 LISTEN

Ghanaian left-back Baba Rahman says it is the dream of the Black Stars to win the Africa Cup of Nations and end their country's long wait for more success in the competition.

Ghana last won the continental prize in 1982 and have come close to adding to their four titles in recent years, losing in the final of both the 2010 and 2015 tournaments.

In 2017 they will look to challenge for the trophy once again, but they must first come through a tough group which will see them face Mali, Egypt and Uganda.

Rahman, who was part of Ghana's squad for the 2015 tournament, insists they are redoubling their efforts to go one step further in Gabon 2017.

'Two years ago was my first time at the African Cup. When I got into the team, the vibe was to get the trophy for Ghana,' Rahman told Graphic Sports.

'We got to the final but unfortunately things didn't work out well for Ghana. It's still very much our dream and as players we discuss it and want to work harder next year to win it.'

The left-back, who is currently on loan at Schalke from parent club Chelsea, also believes Ghana can recover in their 2018 World Cup qualifying group, where they have taken just one point from their first two matches.

'I think we still have a chance, we have four games to play and all are must-win games. And we hope [to benefit] on other results as well, so I believe we have a chance to come back.'
