National handball league gathering momentum

Accra, Apr. 28, GNA - The Greater Accra Handball League entered its second week with both the male and female teams of RENIJOE losing to the Ghana Navy team by 28-34 and 14-20 respectively at the Kaneshie sports complex.

The other game involving the Ghana National Fire Service and Ghana Air force was postponed to June 7, 2016, due to the late arrival of the National Fire Service team.

Ghana Prisons Service Ladies defeated Ghana Police Service ladies by 27-16, whilst in the men's division, defending champions Ghana Police Service team beat Ghana Prisons Service by 28-24 to claim the two vital points to put them on the road to defending their trophy.

In attendance at the Prisons Headquarters Park, where the two rivals clashed, were the Deputy Director General, Technical, of the National Sports Authority, Mr. Saka Aquaye, the Officer in Charge of Sports of Ghana Prisons Service Mrs. Evelyn Ghartey and the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Cephas Arthur.

Elsewhere in the males division, Asomdwe won their first game by beating HOSTAC 29-24 in an entertaining game at the Jamestown Park to the excitement of fans which involved the two oldest civilian clubs. Asomdwe lost their first game to Ghana prisons.

At the University of Ghana, Legon, park, Legonite beat LEKMA by 31-20 to record their first win as they lost in their first game to Ghana Navy.
