Ghanaian striker Accam vows to make Chicago Fire impact, expresses gratitude to his former clubs

Ghana striker David Accam has expressed gratitude all all his former clubs and vowed to make a huge impact at his new MLS side Chicago Fire.

The 26-year-old joined the Fire on Friday from Helsingborgs after spending the past three years with the Swedish giants.

Accam, who is a Ghana international, was grateful to his former clubs who helped to mould his career while assuring Chicago fans he will make the place his home.

“I've had an amazing journey in soccer so far, and I'm thankful to everyone and every club that has helped me along the way – Right to Dream, Hartpury College, Nike Academy, Ostersund and Helsingborg.

I know that Chicago is going to be a great home for me, and I'm looking forward to giving everything I have to become part of the Fire family, with my teammates, the club staff and of course, the fans, especially Section 8,” Accam said when referring to the club's powerful supporters group.

Accam came through the Right To Dream Academy that has produced a number of current U.S. college stars.

He first moved to England on a academic scholarship before playing for non-league clubs Ledbury Town and Evesham United.

He spent the first half of 2012 with Ostersunds FK of the Swedish third division before joining Helsingborgs in August.
