> Mensah, Gyan Recover

Lyon coach Claude Puel is expecting Ghanaian international, John Mensah, to return to match action soon following the defender's recovery from injury.

Mensah has made good progress from injury after sitting out for months because of a groin injury but his return to training early this week has got Puel excited.

"John is back in training a little earlier which is great news," Puel said.

"We are happy with his progress and that owes a lot to his professionalism and hard work."

Lyon signed the highly rated Ghanaian in the summer from Rennes but he has made just four appearances in the French league as a result of the recurring injury.

Meanwhile striker Asamoah Gyan has returned to action after four months out with a thigh injury.

The 22-year-old, who plays for French side Rennes, has joined the junior side of the team in training as he prepares to return to top flight action.

Gyan's injury was a huge disappointment for Rennes after the League One side doled out US$12m for his signature in July.

The former Italy-based striker, whose career has been blighted by several injuries, is confident he is fully fit to help his club in the French top flight.
