Owner and life patron of Asante Kotoko, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed a firm stance on the future of head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, declaring a readiness to dismiss him if he poses a hindrance to the club's progress.

Currently placed 11th in the Premier League standings, Asante Kotoko has faced a challenging streak, securing only one victory in their last seven matches.

During an urgent assembly convened at Manhyia Palace on Thursday to address the club's concerns, the King urged both players and technical staff to pinpoint the underlying issues contributing to their recent downturn in performance.

Emphasizing his role as the ultimate authority over the team, Otumfuo stressed the importance of unity and collaborative efforts in elevating the team's stature. He reiterated his unwavering dedication to the team's success, vowing zero tolerance for any decline in standards.

“I am expecting something better from you,” The King said.

“Prove to me that you are capable and if the coach is the problem, then I will take a decision on him. But for now, make sure you go and play and win.”

The meeting convened between the monarch and key stakeholders, ensued in the wake of unrest among certain fans, who disrupted a training session to demand the resignation or removal of Prosper Narteh Ogum from his coaching position.

However, Otumfuo has opted to stand by the coach, expressing optimism for a turnaround in fortunes.

As the Porcupine Warriors gear up to reclaim their winning form, they anticipate a challenging encounter against league leaders FC Samartex on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Matchday 27 action.
