Joseph Paintsil is determined to be successful at LA Galaxy - Head coach Greg Vanney

LA Galaxy's head coach, Greg Vanney, exudes confidence in the potential success of Joseph Paintsil at the club.

The Ghanaian international made his transition to Major League Soccer (MLS) in January, signing a long-term deal after his stint with Belgian outfit KRC Genk.

Within seven appearances for the club, the 26-year-old forward has already netted two goals and contributed with two assists, showcasing his impact on the team.

In an interview with The Athletic, Vanney expressed that Paintsil is fully cognizant of the commitment required to leave a lasting impression at the club. He emphasized Paintsil's determination to contribute to the club's success by clinching trophies.

Vanney remarked, "He’s aware of what it takes to leave a legacy behind, and that’s one of the reasons why he came here, to help the club be successful and for him to be successful in the process and leave a legacy and make a mark."

Reflecting on his experience with other notable players, including Sebastian Giovinco, Jozy Altidore, and Michael Bradley, Vanney noted their shared aspiration to establish a legacy and be pivotal figures in their respective clubs' history.

Vanney underscored Paintsil's similar mindset and determination to propel the team towards success.

“That’s something that I’ve learned over the years. The DPs, especially guys like Sebastian Giovinco, who come in their prime, and Jozy (Altidore) when he came back in his prime, and Michael (Bradley), is they come back for a different reason. They want to create a legacy, build a legacy, be a really important player at a club like the Galaxy or somewhere, and they want to be winners, they want to lift trophies and etch their name in stone somewhere and be important in those places.

“He has that same demeanour and feels about him as I got from those guys, and he’s gonna help this team be successful.”

Paintsil is anticipated to make his return to action as LA Galaxy gears up to take on Vancouver at BC Place on Sunday, with the match scheduled to kick off at 02:30 AM.
