Ermines Onyema, a distinguished sports broadcaster and first-class graduate from the University of Education, Winneba, has been appointed as the official announcer for swimming at the Africa Games Accra 2023.
Beginning his temporary role on Saturday, March 9, 2023, Ermines will be stationed at the Aquatic Center within the Borteyman Sports Complex in Ghana until Wednesday, March 13, 2023.
Popularly known as ErmBarometer, Ermines is currently the official announcer and commentator for the Ghana Swim League Season 2. He commenced his duties at the poolside of the Aquatic Center alongside Dr. Mohamed Diop from Senegal, who serves as the Secretary General for Africa Aquatics and also as a Bureau Member for World Aquatics.

Swimming is set to be a highlight at the Africa Games 2023, with 32 out of the expected 54 African countries participating in the swimming events. Notable countries such as DR Congo, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea will field male swimmers, while the remaining 27 countries will have both male and female participants.
Scheduled over 5 days, the swimming events will feature competitions such as the 100m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly, 1,500m Freestyle, and the 4x100m Free Relay for both men and women.
The referees for the swimming events include El Haout Youssef, Lan Kwet Hian Ivy, Max Kanyerezi, and Malick Fall, while Yadi Kamal and Simon Asaah, along with Yase Eshum and Sharief Gamiet, will serve as starters and the Competition Director, respectively.

With 179 athletes, comprising 94 women and 85 men, representing 32 African countries, the swimming competitions promise to be fiercely contested. Ghana's swimming team, led by national record holder Abeku Jackson, Nubia Adjei, Christian Nii Nortey Duah, Unilez Takyi, and Joselle Mensah, aims to secure medals for the host country.
