Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara has generously honoured the triumphant players and technical staff of the Elephants team following their remarkable victory in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Despite initial challenges during the group stage, Ivory Coast astounded the continent by clinching the 34th edition of the AFCON in a stunning turnaround.

In the tournament's final showdown against Nigeria, who were vying for their fourth title, the Elephants found themselves trailing after William Troost-Ekong's first-half goal for the opposing team.

However, they mounted a remarkable comeback in the second half, securing their third title with goals from Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller.

Addressing the players during a gathering, Emerse Fae, who served as interim coach and guided the team to victory, was presented with a reward of €150,000.

Furthermore, the entire technical team was acknowledged with a collective sum of €600,000, while each player received a well-deserved bonus of €76,000.

In addition to the individual rewards, the Elephants also received a prize money of $7 million (£5.54 million), with Nigeria receiving $4 million from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
