You’re never really gone, part of you is within our children – Atsu’s wife

The wife of late Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu, Maria Claire-Rupio has penned some touching words as she bids farewell to her late husband.

Mrs. Atsu noted that the player did not depart the universe alone, as part of her made the eternal journey with him.

With sorrow and a feeling of loneliness, she assured the late player that his image would be protected and that his good deeds would live forever in their children.

She further noted that her heart is highly broken as she never envisioned that the former Black Stars winger would die so soon.

Her tribute reads: "Lying before me today is the mortal remains of a beloved father and husband. knew little that morning that God is going to call you home. In life, love you dearly. In death, do the same. It breaks my heart to lose you.

"You did not go alone. For part of me went with you. Your love is still my guide, and though cannot see you. You are always on my side.

"You were always so full of life. You seemed to be immortal. Your smile, your love. I see you in our children's smiles.

"You are never really gone, as part of you is within them. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. But as you always say, God win. In love, your wife."

As promised by the vice president at the time he joined the deceased family to receive the body, thousands of Ghanaians have now trooped to the State House in Accra, where the player is being given a state funeral.
