The Black Meteors of Ghana are through to the next round of the 2023 CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The Ghana U23 national team today hosted their counterpart from Mozambique at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the reverse fixture in Round 2 of the qualifiers.

Following a very dominating display in the first half, the home team scored in injury time through a powerful low drive from talented attacking midfielder Sylvester Simba.

Later in the second half, team captain Daniel Afriyie Barnieh also converted a penalty in the 54th minute to seal a 2-0 victory for the Black Meteors of Ghana.

With another win against Mozambique today, Ghana has secured an emphatic 4-1 aggregate win over the opponent.

The result means that the Black Meteors of Ghana have progressed to the next round of the qualifiers for the 2023 CAF U23 AFCON.

The head coach of the team, Ibrahim Tanko has set sight on working harder with his assistants and players to qualify for next year’s tournament.
