Former Asante Kotoko head coach, Maxwell Konadu has described as baseless the demand from Asante Kotoko asking that he pays US$22,800 as the cost incurred from using the vehicle given to him during his time at the club even after his sacking.

The Ghanaian giants in a letter signed by CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah to the coach are asking that he returns the Toyota Fortuner vehicle and pay the aforementioned money or necessary actions will be taken against him.

“By this letter, the Club demands from you, the payment of the sum of US$22, 800 aforesaid. Should you fail to pay the said sum of money and return the vehicle within 24hours after receipt of this letter, more costs would accrue and the Club will take all legitimate steps to recover the said money from you,” part of a letter sent to coach Maxwell Konadu reads.

In a reply to the letter, coach Maxwell Konadu has written to Asante Kotoko accusing the club of making the demand because he has dragged them before the Ghana FA Player Status Committee to seek all entitlements owed him.

“In any case, the claim of compensation for loss of use of vehicle is baseless and a misconception. Its an afterthought clearly to seek "equalization" after I sought redress at the Player Status Committee of the Ghana Football Association,” part of Maxwell Konadu’s letter to Asante Kotoko reads.

The coach insists that considering that there's a dispute over the outstanding monies due him currently pending before the Players Status Committee of the GFA, it lies foul in the mouth of the club to demand the payment of compensation of $22,800 for loss of use of the vehicle.
