Interplast Ghana Limited has pledged to train famers in the use of modern methods for fixing irrigation facilities to bring progress in the agricultural sector at the 2018 Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Conference and Exhibition from the 3rd to 5th September 2018 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Conference.

Speaking at a Press Conference in Accra to present the Companies packages for participating farmers and institutions due to their partnership with Agrihouse Foundation, Organizers of the event, Mr. Haider Malhas, Manager of Irrigation Service at Interplast said that the company will provide free training for patrons of the event who patronize their irrigation system.

He indicated that the decision to provide them with free training during the event will reduce the cost of after sales service that’d have been incurred by the farmers under the normal arrangement.

Our services are not only commercialized but also providing services that will help farmers install the irrigation system

According to him, using the system will boast the produce of farmers and therefore it is the way to go.

He revealed that there are also plans to collaborate with banks to offer credits to farmers who want to use the irrigation facility but don’t have the funds to take advantage of the ground-breaking innovation of the company.

The Pre-harvest event promotes business partnerships among value chain actors, especially farmers, buyers, processors, transporters, input dealers, equipment dealers, financial institutions, telecom companies and policy makers.

The event, which is a major interventional Exhibitions and Conference, seeks to accelerate the transformation of agribusiness in Northern Ghana with the Government’s Planting for Food and Jobs programme, strong drive by agro-processors to source raw materials locally, a growing band of agribusiness entrepreneurs, and lessons from development partner interventions.

It also aims to get the Agribusiness sector to influence transformation, with the heightened focus on public-private partnerships, investment opportunities and creating an action-driven blueprint for an increasingly sustainable agricultural movement.

For the first time since its inception in 2011, the 8th Pre-harvest Event will be held for 3 days. It is expected to attract 2000 participants and exhibitors including farmers, traders, commodity brokers, input companies, machinery and equipment providers, transporters, financial institutions, ICT, Innovations, Poultry and Livestock companies, packaging and processing companies, development practitioners and government agencies, among others. Exhibitors are expected to increase from 72 companies in 2017 to about 120 exhibitors this year.

The Special Guest of Honour for the 2018 Agribusiness Conference is the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumiah.
