Kofi Annan defends International Criminal Court despite Africa row

Is it true that sometimes it's not good for an African to live in a white man's country for too long? Because it's shocking that the ex-UN secretary-general, doesn't consider himself an African any longer and therefore rejects charges of court bias against the continent of Africa.

Kofi Annan, former UN secretary-general, has strongly defended the International Criminal Court, arguing that if Africans and others cannot get justice in their domestic courts they should seek it abroad. The question is: How can Africans depend on ICC if they are also a bunch of criminals in robes?

If Kofi Annan is intelligent enough to be United Nations Secretary-General, then he should know that Belgium was responsible for the Rwandan genocide, resulting in the death of thousands of Rwandans, including poor innocent children but not a single Belgian was jailed for that crime against humanity, instead they jailed two Rwandan nuns who just became scapegoats.

Mr. Kofi Annan, are you pleased that Charles Taylor of Liberia and Hissene Habré of Chad are serving prison sentences for committing crimes against humanity in their respective countries, according to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, but George Bush and Tony Blair are now free after committing the same crime in Iraq?

Mr. Kofi Annan, In fact, instead of defending the corrupt ICC, the poor Africans will be delighted if you could bring those responsible for the Aids and Ebola crime in Africa to face similar justice in The Hague because those medical genocides had killed and continued killing Africans each and every day.

Mr. Annan, you were the former Secretary-General of the United Nations. After five years of denial, the UN finally admitted its part in bringing cholera to Haiti during disaster relief measures following the 2010 earthquake that devastated the country.

Hundreds of thousands of Haitians had the disease from the ongoing outbreak, which resulted in an estimated 10,000 deaths. Did the International Criminal Court bring any of the UN officials to The Hague to face criminal charges? And where were you then to acknowledge this as a medical crime, thus; the Haitians need justice?

In an interview, Mr. Annan rejected accusations that the ICC was an anti-African institution and said:

“I remind the Africans that it’s wrong for them to say that only African leaders are put into the dock,” he told the Financial Times. He added that Slobodan Milosevic and others convicted of war crimes in the former Yugoslavia had been tried in The Hague before the ICC was established.

African leaders “shouldn’t pretend that they were the first” or that the process is biased, Mr. Annan, the Ghanaian, said.

Sorry! Mr. Annan, you did mention of Slobodan Milosevic of Yugoslavia but you failed to mention the number of Africans leaders sent behind bars by the corrupt International Criminal Court or comment on the crimes George Bush and Tony Blair committed in Iraq, and now enjoying impunity.

It's very sad that Kofi Annan, in his caliber will ignore and betray Africa by supporting the West and America blindly without commenting on the criminal activities and biased judgment by the International Criminal Court, because he was a former UN Secretary-General, representing an organization involved in medical crimes against Third World Countries around the globe.

Several African governments have threatened to quit the ICC. Last year, South Africa said it would review its membership after criticism over its failure to detain Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, who is wanted by the ICC on charges of war crimes and genocide.

But until those responsible for the Aids and Ebola medical crimes are brought to justice in The Hague, and the two jailed Rwandan nuns are set free, Africans will continue to view the International Criminal Court as nothing but an empire of crooks in white collar robes. If there is something called genuine justice, then the ICC should let the world see its impact on both the poor and the rich.

FINALLY UN APOLOGIZES TO HAITI OVER CHOLERA EPIDEMIC

Following the article, we wrote on November 26, 2016, about the hypocrisy of the International Criminal Court failing to bring officials of the United Nations responsible for the cholera epidemic in the country in the year 2010, we weren't surprised to read:

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday apologized for the first time to the people of Haiti for the role played by the world body’s peacekeepers in sparking a devastating cholera epidemic in the country.

“On behalf of the United Nations, I want to say very clearly we apologize to the Haitian people,” he said three times — in Haitian Creole, French, and English.

“We simply did not do enough with regards to the cholera outbreak and its spread in Haiti,” Ban said. “We are profoundly sorry for our role.”
