The Rector of BlueCrest College, Prof. Dr. Sunil Kumar Roy has officially ushered in freshmen and women to the college at a ceremony held in Accra at the school’s Auditorium.

A total number of 360 students who were admitted to pursue degree in Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) courses, Journalism, Information Technology (IT) and, Fashion and Design swore the matriculation oath.

The students also seek the truth, study diligently and observe the regulations of the college in order to study and complete their courses successfully.

Speaking at the 16th Matriculation ceremony, the Rector of the college said the key focus of the college is self-imposed discipline rather than externally imposed discipline among the students to enable them become responsible.

Practical/Industrial Visits
He indicated that what makes the school unique is the exposure they give to their students internationally and locally to help them meet the job requirements after graduation.

When asked what practical lessons they give students to make them meet the job requirement, he stated, “I am from the industry, my blood, sense are 20years of industry experience and 10 years in academia. So I know what the industry wants and for the matter I have a corporate relationship with a lot of industries and organizations. We invite them and ask them about their expectation and we use that to try to bridge that knowledge and skills gap.”

According to him, the school annually sponsor some students to attend a fashion week event in Dubai whiles others go on industrial visits with some interning with key sector organizations in order to acquire the practical skills and experience.

“We also partner with schools in Germany for an exchange programme to allow students acquire multiple disciplines and practical skills rather than knowledge,” he stated.

Quality Assured
Prof. Dr. Sunil Kumar Roy noted that the school has an attractivecampus with modern facilities and teaching aids which makes teaching and learning easy and convenient.

He added that the college provides the right set of approach for students to interact and learn from each other for academic improvement.

Dr. Sunil intimated that the college has an innovative and flexible approach towards academic instructions that incorporates multiple program paths to suit their future aspirations.

The Rector posited that though all programmes are directed at training students to become seasoned in their chosen field, they are also developed to promote self-employment as successful entrepreneurs.

“We also partner with schools in Germany for an exchange program to allow students learn from each other our practical skills rather than knowledge,” he stated.

Scholarships for Students
The Registrar of the School, Sujith Jayaprakash emphasized that the college has a generous scholarship for meritorious applicants and students who excel academically.

“We awarded nine scholarships to continuing students. Basically these scholarships are awarded based on the GPA performance of students. Assuming the student is in level 100, we check the GPA from semester one and two to find out if the student has achieved 3.5 and above. This includes multiple checks from the department, the Dean of Students and the SRC to find out whether the student has involved in any disciplinary issues. The scholarship is for two semesters which is about 75percent of the tuition fee of the student,” he intimated.

According to him, three of the beneficiaries are students from the Faculty of Technology, 4 are from Faculty of Business, one from Fashion and other from Journalism.

“We check from the quality assurance office whether the student was involved in any disciplinary issues. We also check from the student affairs and other extra curricula activities of the student before awarding the scholarship,” he stated.

The Registrar added that the college is also sponsoring three selected fashion students to Dubai Fashion Week for three days on 24th to 29th April, 2018.

BlueCrest College offers wide range of courses ranging from certificate, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Arts and Creative industries, Business, ICT and more.
